MEAL PLANS DON'T WORK...WHAT TO DO INSTEAD:

  • THREE SIMPLE REASONS MEAL PLANS DON'T WORK

If you've ever tried to follow a meal plan and feel like you've failed I have great news! It wasn't your fault!

MEAL PLANS DON'T WORK and here's why:

SIMPLE REASON #1) Meal plans teach you nothing about making decisions.Following a meal plan is a fabulous exercise if you’re looking to grow your ability to FOLLOW DIRECTIONS but a poor excuse for building the necessary skills to MAKE DECISIONS.  SIMPLE REASON #2) Meal Plans fall apart when you can’t control your environment.Does this sound familiar?  You sign up for a “Fast Fat Loss” Meal Plan, the kind that promises to help you drop 10 pounds in 4 weeks, so you can fit in those pants collecting dust in the back of your closet. It’s working swell, you don’t have to think about anything…until you take a weekend trip or go out to dinner with friends. Then what? The meal plan gets left in the dust and you feel like a failure.SIMPLE REASON #3) Meal Plans don’t consider YOU. An arbitrary, cookie cutter, one-size-fits-all meal plan knows nothing about you! It doesn’t know your preferences, your energy expenditure, your height or weight, your sleep quality or stress load. An impersonal meal plan knows nothing about your busy schedule or your food sensitivities.Using a meal plan and expecting to succeed at FOREVER FAT LOSS is like thinking you can swim without ever taking off your floaties.  Here’s what to do instead:

  1. Learn the basics about how to deeply nourish your body and how it uses different types of fuel to create energy.

  2. Build your decision-making muscles by making grown-up decisions about food regardless of the situation or environment.

  3. Learn to speak the language of your body by paying attention to the signs and signals it's giving you.
